Since the Third Saudi State in the early 20th Century, the Kingship has been handed down from brother to brother. Saudi Arabia saw a shift in power when Mohammed Bin Salman, son of the current king, was announced crown prince June of 2017, taking the position from his cousin Mohammed bin Nayef.
